Highs and Lows of Spring Break

HIGH:

I got to go to the beach every day (I went to FL)

LOW:

I got sun burnt all over my body and the itching is stronger than me.

HIGH:

I got to spend some extra time with a few newer friends and get to know them better.

LOW:

By the car ride home, I'm pretty sure we were all sick of each other. Socially burned out and ready to hide away for a week haha.

HIGH:

Swimming is fun.

LOW:

The water is so freaking cold and salt water burned my eyes.

HIGH:

I made it to the good waves.

LOW:

I almost drowned.

HIGH:

I finally cut my ex off.

LOW:

No low to that.

HIGH:

I won bowling.

LOW:

I lost in everything else, including tennis.

HIGH:

I became a pro at Wordle. Most improved player.

LOW (ish):

I am now addicted to Wordle.

LOW X2: School & Work

HIGH:

Just showered.

LOW:

I'm still itchy.

Moral of the story:

The reason I wanted to write out some highs and lows of my trip is not only to reminisce on the fun times I had but also to show that there are highs and lows with everything we do. We can't always choose whether to be happy or sad/mad, but they both exist. They're like two different protagonists, the negative one being a protagonist in the form of a changed antagonist. It's all about what perspective you choose to write from. I also wrote highs and lows for comedic release; who doesn't love to make light of bad situations like sunburn?

Also, the positives and negatives depend on each other. A story couldn't exist without conflict. Right now that's what I'm working on. One of my novels keeps getting critiqued for not having a huge conflict, and I myself am conflicted because while there's lots of conflict, it isn't something huge like death or war. I'm struggling with whether to take the advice or not.

And what do you know, I studied on vacation without even realizing it. I even cheated and wrote a little bit even though I told myself not to.

A valid question that I think can be enlightening for a lot of people is: if you were to make a realistic fiction novel or memoir based on your life, what would it look like?
