My Fav First Lines
This is going to be a short little list of my favorite lines from books. I'm sure some of them will be other people's favorites too because I think the words are incredibly powerful. I'm purposefully not going to write the author or book, just know the words aren't mine. See if you can guess what book they're from. I'm also for once not going to give an explanation because quotes can mean something different for everybody, and I want you to think of what it means to you when you read it :)
"Late in the winter of my seventeenth year, my mother decided I was depressed, presumably because I never left the house, spent quite a lot of time in bed, read the same book over and over, ate infrequently, and devoted quite a bit of my abundant free time to thinking about death."
"The great thing about this life of ours is that you can be someone different to everybody."
"True love is usually the most inconvenient kind."
“If all the world hated you and believed you wicked, while your own conscience approved of you and absolved you from guilt, you would not be without friends.”
"Reader, I married him."
“Eleanor was right. She never looked nice. She looked like art, and art wasn't supposed to look nice; it was supposed to make you feel something.”
“I feel like everyone fakes who they really are, when deep down we're all equal amounts of screwed up. Some of us are just better at hiding it than others.”
“I am not drunk. I’m just talking in cursive.”
There are many others, but that's all I'm going to include today. Hope you got something out of it. I think the best quotes are ones we relate to and ones that make us realize something about ourselves or ones that allow us to feel sympathy or empathy for others.
